Project Funding: Water Crisis Relief
Funds Required: $38.5 billion over 10 years
The water crisis around the world is real and many lives die daily because they don’t have clean water. The fact the richest country in the world has this crisis and it hasn’t been solved. This causes us to act and make a difference. As we strive to help through our 2k+ missionaries to continue building wells, filtering water for those countries that don’t have the infrastructure around the world, we need to solve the water crisis here at home.
From USA Today dated March 5, 2016
“More than 6 million lead service lines exist across the country, according to estimates cited by Fitch. Many of these are located in the Northeast, Midwest and older urban areas.
‘We believe the capital costs to replace these lines could exceed $275 billion,’ Fitch said.
The EPA’s latest survey estimated the entire sector needs $385 billion in water infrastructure improvements through 2030, and this estimate includes the costs to only partially replace lead pipes, according to the rating agency.
Fitch Ratings noted that if those costs are spread over a sufficient amount of time, they could be manageable. However, if those changes need to be implemented faster, it could cause financial stress for some water utilities. Those costs could eventually be passed on to consumers, said Andrew DeStefano, director for U.S. public finance at Fitch.”
In an effort to streamline the lead line issue that affects U.S. water lines, and to avoid water inflation pricing, Live 80/20 will partner with a water filtration company that can cut these costs as low as 10% of the needed $385 billion needed to ensure clean water is available throughout the U.S. The project will first tackle the Flint water crisis so those who got sick and died will be remembered. This will create numerous jobs and help stimulate many different economy’s.
